CORIDON has impacted on women from neglected communities who have limited, or no, formal education and skills. These women are typically married off at a very young age, some younger than 12 years and almost 50% are married before the age of 18. Limited formal education and skills along with household or family responsibilities at a very young age have limited our women’s access to decent job opportunities. At CORIDON, women get an opportunity to work as change agents in their own communities and run their own business. The women are not employees of CORIDON; they purchase products from CORIDON on credit, and sell them to customers. The Women Entrepreneurs collect the customer’s payment to repay CORIDON the cost of the product, while retaining a margin of the profit. We support these women entrepreneurs with regular training, infield support, and incentives. If they are unable to sell their products, CORIDON will take the stock back from them at no cost, removing all risk.
